Volunteer Opportunities

How can you help?

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community helping animals in need? If you want to try something new, we have many other roles that need to be filled other than helping out at a spay+neuter clinic!  As Tails of Mexico has grow, our services we offer have as well.

School Animal Education Program
This program is in the development stage.   The objective will be to have Spanish speakers visit schools and present a class program that encompasses animal care and protection.   Feeding, grooming, vaccinating, spay/neutering and when a vet is needed for their pet.

Fundraising
Tails of Mexico is a 501c3 U.S Government approved charity which allows for both Americans and Canadians to claim their donations as a tax deduction.  We look for direct donations and legacy gifts.   We also have a wish list of supplies that can be donations in kind.  Once a year we hold our major fundraising dinner in February – The Spay-ghetti No Balls dinner complete with raffles and silent auction.  We are open to other fundraising activities that present themselves throughout the year. Volunteers who like to organize, sell tickets and solicit donations are welcome. We are an organization that relies 100% on the generosity of donors. Entirely run by volunteers, the only people we pay are vets! No waste so we are able to help more animals!

Pop-Up Sales/Adoption Events

Tails of Mexico receive many gifts in kind for items that can be sold as another fundraising tool.   We have t-shirts, collars, harnesses & leashes, dog beds, grooming tools, cat and dog toys which are all NEW items that can be sold.   These events are generally run in conjunction with another public event where a large number of people from both the area and Guadalajara might attend.   Should we have some puppies or dogs that our volunteers have rescued and fostered available for adoption, they too will be at this type of event.

Communications

Communication with our volunteers, our donors and our families needing help is key to TOM’s success and continued outreach.  We need hands on help with writing, social media messaging, Spanish messaging, design work, website updating and ongoing maintenance of our website.

Administration

Behind the scenes there are reports, statistics, and paperwork to be filed with government agencies both in Mexico and in the United States.   This information is also used to update our donors and volunteers on the health and well-being of Tails of Mexico.   There is inventory to track, orders of supplies to be made, thank you letters to write, and the list goes on.
